SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2018 GMC Acadia

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 GMC Acadia, we're going to be installing SMI's stay and play duo supplemental braking system. Part number SM99251.This proportional braking system is going to apply the brakes in your vehicle as you're going down the road whenever you hit the brakes in your RV. Once your control unit detects a brake signal from your RV, it will check the internal inertia signal to determine the appropriate time to apply the brakes and how hard.Sensitivity adjustment can be found here on the side. Simply unscrew the knob, move it up and down, tighten it back down to adjust it. There's an on and off switch located on the side. This will arm your braking system, that way it's looking for a signal from your RV and this disables it so you can disconnect your vehicle, drive down the road and you don't have to worry about your braking system activating. The actuating cylinder connects to your brake pedal.

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 GMC Acadia we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Proportional Braking System, part number SM99251. Our SMI Stay-IN-Play Supplemental Braking System is going to provide a proportional braking force. As I apply the brakes, it will apply the same amount of braking force in our towed vehicle. Now since this system is proportional, I do have the brakes applied, and you notice that there's no lights showing on the bottom. Because it's proportional, you have to be over 20 miles an hour for it to apply the brakes in the towed vehicle. To start our install, we want to come inside the vehicle, and we need to find a place to mount our G-Force box. Now you want to make sure that the SMI is facing the passenger side. If you're not going to mount on the passenger side, its got to face that way.

Blue Ox Patriot Proportional Braking System Installation - 2015 GMC Acadia

Today on our 2015 GMC Arcadia, we'll be taking a look at and installing the Blue Ox Radio Frequency Proportional Portable Braking System, part number BRK2012. Now we're ready to tow our vehicle, we'll simply grab our portable proportional braking system, which is going to be that Blue Ox Patriot. We'll simply set it in the vehicle with our seat all the way back, slide the pedal hooks over the brake pedal into position, press the release button so it clamps on, and then ensure that it's as level as possible. We can do that by adjusting the feet on the bottom side. Once we have it level and it's nice and sturdy in there, we can then adjust the seat to meet up with it. Bring it forward and down to where it's even with the Blue Ox, where it just meets up. We'll then take our breakaway plug, insert it into the top, take our 12-volt outlet plug it in so we have constant power. Again remember that if your vehicle is being disconnected completely from a battery you will need to run a separate 12-volt harness. But if you're just running fuse bypasses, find a 12-volt outlet that's still going to work, plug it in, and turn it on.
